Scratchboard is a heavy paper or art board coated with a thin layer of clay and a top layer of India ink.
The ink layer is scratched or scraped through to the layer of clay creating a black and white etching like image. Color may be applied at this stage very carefully using very small brushes and ink or paint of your choice
